At Gleneagle, one of our goals is to encourage students (and others) to get EXCITED about the broad range of creative endeavours possible when you actively shift from being in the world to SEEING in the world. One's ability to "see" is often taken for granted, however the true artist grasps nuances that others miss, both visual and otherwise. This is often the first major discovery for a new artist ... and then what? Time for an art course (or another art course)! At Gleneagle we are proud of the breadth and depth of course offerings, and our team of passionate, experienced and knowledgeable teachers. Please make sure you check out our Art Department pages!

About myself: Although my teaching specialty is graphic art & design, in the last several years, I've also enjoyed teaching photography, fabric art & design, and JumpstArt 9. In my twenty year teaching career I've been privileged to teach a wide variety of art courses, grades 8 though 12 including general art, ceramics, and commercial art. Prior to teaching, I had ten-year career in the graphic arts industry, first as an apprentice, and then as a journeyman.
I've been immersed in "making and creating" virtually my entire life. As a child, I was constantly drawing, or making things, both art and craft. By adolescence, I was designing and sewing clothing and textiles; I've continued to explore fibre arts since then. And of course, I have to mention my favourite "3D artpiece" -- my garden, where I play year-long with shape, form, colour, texture, light & shadow!
I love all visual phenomena, and the act of creating. And I encourage all those who enjoy "visual play", regardless of medium, to keep mucking about with it! (Drawing well is not a prerequisite.) Honour that creative spark within, after all, artists/designers are the unsung (and often unseen) HEROS behind literally ALL that is made by humans!
